    Secret tip
    - The walnut oil mill and the roastery:
Chanaz is renowned for being an artisanal city. Two sites are essential: the walnut oil mill and the roastery. The mill, built in 1868, brings up to date the hard job of miller. Every year, 50,000 visitors push the door of this historic building. Another place that has become cult: the roastery, which offers demonstrations of old-fashioned coffee roasting.

    - The Canal de Savières, a historic link:
4 km long, the Savières canal connects Lake Bourget to the Rhône. It was for a very long time the main means of communication between France and Savoy. At present, three boat companies offer unique cruises on this channel. In addition, this year, shuttles between Chanaz, Portout and Châtillon beach have been set up to facilitate access to the major sites of Chautagne.

    - The Gallo-Roman Museum, unique pottery:
Installed in a Gothic chapel, in the heart of the medieval village of Chanaz, this museum offers an astonishing exhibition of pottery, shiny ceramics, everyday objects, coins or jewelery from the 5th century BC. Many of these pieces were found near Portout.

    - The Via Rhôna stops at Chanaz:
The cycle route that connects Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea passes through Chanaz. The small city has set up a specific system to best accommodate cyclists.

    - Canal Boat:
Bateaucanal offers every day from May 1 to the end of September a departure at 3 p.m. from Chanaz (do not hesitate to contact us to find out the summer timetable) for a "grand tour" lasting 2 hours and 15 minutes, with the passage of the lock, navigation on the Rhône, the Canal de Savière and the north of Lac du Bourget. It is also possible to take a "little tour" of the Ecluse-Rhône or a "little tour" of the Canal-Nord du Lac. You can find all the details on our website. Every weekend, 3hoo lunch cruises take you on a discovery of the canal and the lake as far as Hautecombe Abbey.
