    About the property

    Property description
Pensionat Gjøl is close to the city of Aalborg and a lot of fantastic nature. However, there were only a limited number of accommodation options on Gjøl, and therefore the idea arose to open our home up to guests and tourists who would like to experience this gem up close.

The guest house, which is furnished in modernized circus carriages, is located centrally in Gjøl town with a short distance to the place of shopping (Dagli’Brugsen) and harbor. The private home which until the mid-80s has been run as agriculture is popularly called "Mikkelsen's farm". Thereafter, the home functioned as a private home until the spring of 2019, when the guest house was established.

The guest house is designed so that you can manage yourself and thus manage your time yourself. Breakfast and other meals are therefore not offered. In return, there is an inn and cultural cafe on the harbor, which has a large selection of dishes. Furthermore, you can also buy a wide range of groceries in the local use.

However, the guest house is self-sufficient with eggs from our free range hens. The eggs are free for our guests and can be picked up fresh from the nest boxes.

For the home there is a large barn, which accommodates many indoor activities, such as beer tasting and music events.

The guest house has a large garden, where the circus carriages are located so that all the carriages have a view of the Limfjord. Furthermore, a trampoline, a fire pit and a covered pavilion are located in the garden.

In addition to the hens and the guest house's 2 cats, there are also pet rabbits. Furthermore, we have access to horses so that riding and trekking trips can be arranged.

Free WIFI is available throughout the guest house.

      Secret tip
Gjøl has given its name to the gjøl trolls, which were created in the city by Thomas Dam back in the 30s. The trolls have since become world famous. The town is also known for the sausage factory, Gøl Pølser, which was started on Gjøl, and later moved to Svendstrup near Aalborg.

At the harbor is Gjøl kro, which was rebuilt in 1901, the old inn from 1851 burned down in the autumn of 1900. Both inn and town play a role in Hans Kirk's novel Fiskerne. Kirk got the inspiration for the novel during a stay in Gjøl, where he lived at the inn.

The town also has their own troll museum, which tells the whole story of the popular trolls, as well as shows a wide selection of the production with many rare trolls.

For a crowd of enthusiasts, we have managed to raise money to rebuild the old GØL boat, which is located in the harbor, from where you can go on boat trips out on the Limfjord if you are a member.

Furthermore, on request, city walks, horse-drawn carriage rides, visits to a disused mink farm, etc. can be arranged.

The nature around Gjøl also has a lot to offer. One can i.a. take a trip out on the Mountain and the Wolf Deep with the fine Øland Dam and study a rich bird life. The trip from the city and out there is suitable for cycling. Furthermore, there is a nicely laid out path system along the fjord from Isbakken to the harbor, which is worth a walk.
