About the property

Property description
Camping Sudersé in Workum was started in 1994 on the organic farm of the Van der Plaat family to diversify the declining agricultural income. Today the family still welcomes you to their campsite, which has grown in the meantime but still has the same cozy family atmosphere.

Welcome to Camping Sudersé
The campsite is located in the beautiful Frisian countryside, right next to the IJsselmeer and the old town of Workum. You will be welcomed on arrival at the campsite and you can usually choose a spot yourself (except in high season). Arrival time is from 13:30.

Motorhome pitches on the campsite
Paved camper pitches and grass camping pitches are available. The pitches are spacious (60 - 120 m2) and easily accessible. The camper pitches have access to electricity and sanitary facilities. The toilets and hot showers are separate and there is also a baby room. There is also a washing machine, dryer and freezer and refrigerator for shared use. Pets are also very welcome on the campsite, provided they are kept on a lead. Finally, there is also free wifi on site.

Accommodation at Camping Sudersé
In addition to the camping spots at camping Sudersé, accommodation is also available. The four hikers' cabins have recently been renovated and are suitable for four or five people. The cabins are simply furnished with bunk beds and have a compact kitchen. You use the shared sanitary facilities. In addition to the hikers' cabins, there is also a bungalow available for six to eight people. Please note: bring your own bed linen when you stay in the hiker's cabins or bungalow.

Farm It Griene Strân
Camping Sudersé is connected to the farm It Griene Strân. The van der Plaat family started organic cultivation in the 1980s. Today, farmer Jan Pieter van der Plaat is the only large-scale organic vegetable grower in Súdwest-Fryslân with this green company. He tries to grow strong crops with animal manure and without chemical pesticides. Ask at the reception of camping Sudersé about the products of It Griene Strân.

Discover Workum and the Frisian landscape
The ideal location of Camping Sudersé means that you can discover Southwest Friesland on foot or by bike. Pastures, windmills and old villages lie on your path and Workum is also close by. This old picturesque town is one of the eleven cities and rich in historical monuments. The St. Gertrudiskerk is worth seeing and a visit to the Jopie Huisman Museum is also a must during a city walk through Workum. The Frisian artist was self-taught and his work is unique and unparalleled.

Water sports on the IJsselmeer
With the IJsselmeer one kilometer away, camping Sudersé is popular with both novice and advanced kite and windsurfers. There are several schools near the campsite where you can learn to kitesurf and that have included Sudersé as a place to stay in their program. This means that you can easily combine your holiday with discovering a unique sport.
