About this place

The cabin is situated in the middle of the pasture at a small sheep farm, surrounded by green meadows and native forest. A big lake, Storavatnet, who is perfect for rowing and canoeing is nearby. Perfect for friends who wants to do some exploring, hiking, fishing, crafting, writing, or just be at the farm. The bed is a small double bed, and there is an extra mattress. The cottage have a compost toilet, and running cold water outside. It is electricity so you can charge phones, and for light, but for heating it is a gas heater, and also a gas cooking stove. It is a electric kettle as well. No WIFI in the hut, but in the farmhouse if you need internet. If you need extra mattress/bedding, let me know before you arrive. The same for some of the the more special things, such as wine glasses. Just tell me what you need, and I will provide it for you. If somethings is missing, or if it is anything you lack or miss, just tell me, and I will do all I can to meet your wishes. :-)
It's a nice spot outside the cabin to sit by the bonfire at night. I provide firewood. It is possible to borrow my boat/canoe for exploring the lake. It is a silent lake, so no motors allowed. ;-) Gripen is a silent spot, it is very little sound pollution, and the same with light, so it gets very dark, when it is dark. So here the stars shine bright. Anyway, the the cows sometimes moos, sheep says BÆÆÆ now and then, and some of them have a little bell... And then I have two dachshunds at the farm, and a young Hungarian pumi, and they are very enthusiastic, and love people! So be prepared for some happy barking when you arrive! :-) Since this actually is a working farm, I sometimes can be vey busy, and unforeseen things can happen, so I hope you understand this. I will anyway do my best to help you as fast as I can, if you need me. Now in 2021 , I am building a big new traditional barn at the farm. Because of this, it is a bit messy around the building site, it is difficult to avoid. It is also remains after we have been having a sawmill here, to saw all the timber we needed for the barn. We are working with cleaning up, and I think and hope that you should not be bothered from it, it is clean around the cottages anyway. Around the cabin it is mostly nature. It is a big lake near by, and a big native rainforest (saved) with very old pines. You can borrow one of the boats, and a fishing net, so you can catch your own meals, and also pick mushrooms and berries. You can swim in the lake, but if you want a shower, you must go to the farm house for that.

The stay on Helen's farm is probably our favorite memory from our whole trip through Norway. She's so kind and has great ideas & vision for the surroundings. There's always something happening and all materials are being used, so we're excited to see what happens in the future. We loved the option to use the canoe and spend an hour on the big lake all by ourselves. All the animals are really cute, the beds are comfy and sleep great with the only thing to hear is the nearby creek. We definitely try to come back soon and stay for longer :)

Helene was a great host who made us feel extremely welcome. The cabin was beautifully decorated and we loved cooking on the old stove, even though it took us a while. The scenery was beautiful and we wish we could have stayed longer. The only down side was that it was raining during our stay so we didn't get to take advantage of taking out one of the boats on the lake, but obviously that is nature! We would definitely book this place again, such a peaceful and remote location and cute cabin.
