Experience a cozy forest cabin, Nykkebo, by the idyllic Nykktjørn, in Vasslandsgrenda in Abusdal. Here you will find peace and wilderness tranquility, with swimming and great hiking opportunities right outside the door and many active outdoor experiences a drive away.
The scenic location gives you access to great views over the valley, nice hikes, berry picking, swimming in the pond with a bathing raft, and fishing in nearby waters. You can enjoy the sun on the large deck from morning to evening, or relax in a hammock between the trees.
With climbing, rafting, paintball, go-karting, moose safari, water park, and much more nearby, there is never a lack of activities. After a day filled with experiences, you can enjoy the warmth of the fireplace, board games at the cabin, or gather the family around the campfire to create memories.
The cabin is family-friendly and dogs are welcome, so bring the whole family to enjoy nature together. Although the cabin is a bit away from the parking lot, a 15-minute walk uphill, you are rewarded with views and wilderness tranquility when you reach the height. The cabin has regular electricity, but is otherwise modest with an outdoor toilet and fetching water from the creek.
Welcome to experience nature in Abusdal!
Practical info:
The main cabin has a living room, kitchen, and dining area in a large open space with high ceilings. In addition, there are 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with 4 sleeping places in bunk beds. In the annex, there is a bedroom with a bunk bed with 2 sleeping places. The annex also has a compost toilet, equipped with an electric fan that draws out the smell, and a soft polystyrene seat that warms up quickly for comfort. There is a shed with a freezer, firewood, outdoor furniture, and various tools. The kitchen has a refrigerator, a cold room in a hatch in the floor, a stove with hot plates and an oven, a coffee maker, a kettle, and is well-equipped with tools to make most things. There is phone coverage and 4G on and around the cabin. Smoking in the cabin is not allowed.
The cabin must be cleaned and washed by the tenant, as we who rent it out live in Stavanger. The cabin has a key box, so you can lock yourself in and out. You will receive a code and all necessary information to find your way after you have booked.
There is a fireplace, wood stove, and panel heaters in the cabin and the annex. Firewood is included for a consumption of around 35 logs for 5 days of rental (equivalent to a standard firewood bag). For larger consumption, you can buy another round with 35 logs from the wood that is there for 110 NOK. If you are there for a shorter or longer time, count about 7 logs per day in consumption that is included.
Bring:
- Sheets, duvet, and pillowcases/sleeping bag
- Kitchen cloths and kitchen towels

We are a family with a mother, two sons, and a dog, living in Stavanger. My parents bought the cabin from a firefighter from Kristiansand, who built it himself in the 1970s. Several of the cabins located up on the hill were built by firefighters from Kristiansand. There are stories that they insisted on carrying everything for the construction on their backs, instead of having it driven by the farmer on the tractor road. Tough firefighters who believe that for a cabin trip, one must get out of the car and carry a bit before arriving.
