Nestled on a hillside overlooking the Lusterfjord, this charming and rustic cabin offers a unique getaway. Located on the historic Kroken Gård, famously featured in the Norwegian TV series "Der Ingen Skulle Tru at Nokon Kunne Bu," this retreat is part of the incredible journey of Ben Ward, an Englishman who breathed new life into this remote farm after it had been abandoned for decades.

This intimate cabin is beautifully crafted with warm wooden interiors, a cozy sleeping nook, and a small kitchenette for your comfort. Perfect for a couple or a solo traveler, it provides everything you need for a peaceful escape, including a wood stove to keep you warm on chilly evenings.

From the window, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the fjord below and the majestic mountains that surround the property. Step outside, and you’re immediately immersed in nature, with hiking trails and wildlife at your doorstep.

Included in the price you get free access to the treetop sauna, bed sheets, towels, and shower in the main house.

During the spring and summer, I'll guide you through the art of axe throwing.

About the Farm and Ben’s Story
Ben Ward moved to Norway from London, driven by a dream of living a simple, self-sustaining life surrounded by the beauty of the fjords. Overcoming isolation, landslides, and harsh winters, Ben restored this once-abandoned property into a thriving, off-grid sanctuary. His inspiring story of resilience and determination has been shared with the world.

We had a fantastic stay at Ben's place at Kroken gård. The place is absolutely unique, with a view that will take your breath away – peace, quiet and pure balm for the soul. 🌿 Ben is incredibly hospitable, welcoming and nice, and you feel really welcome from the first moment. He is currently building a treetop cabin that is guaranteed to be something very special – we are already looking forward to coming back and experiencing it! A place we can highly recommend.

I received good local advice about weekend ferry services. I used UT app for the ‘walk in’. It was exactly 2 kilometres as per the guidance. The change in elevation walking in is 250 metres, descending 50 metres to the Farmhouse site. I received a warm , friendly and charming welcome from the Host , Mr Ben and Co-worker. The mountain cabin was spotlessly clean, tidy with all necessities for a great weekend. I was shown the site facilities on arrival. The access by Host invitation to use the Hot Shower was more than perfect, private and secure. I was allowed to store perishables in the Farmhouse refrigerator. This was most charming and friendly. I could walk freely on the farm area. The view from the Cabin was absolutely breathtaking. The views at the sunrise were special. It was absolutely silence there with the tingle of mountain water stream running and you could hear the waterfall on the opposite side of Lustrafjord. The mountain tops were so clear with a dusting of snow. The Host gave guidance on local walking trips and quaint museum at Solheim. I walked into Feiga Fossen ( 219 metres waterfall drop ) . It was a great experience. I learnt how to take care in the forest and helped with cleaning the forest floor and moving wood. There were lots of opportunities to feel the nature and help as much or as little as you would like. There is a vibrant energy in the folks on the site, they are making upgrades and improvements to an already idyllic spot. I am 61 and could walk in within one hour and walking out 50 minutes. I felt supported. The Host rang once during the ‘walk in’ to check I was feeling fine and managing. I felt at ease with the Host , Mr Ben and his Co-Worker and could ask help with anything. The Host kindly let me wash a shirt in the Main Farmhouse. The Cabin was warm and cosy with warm and clean bedding. I had firewood supplied, tea, coffee, water tank, electrical Supply to charge phone and run a Wifi router. The Host , Mr Ben introduced me to different Tree types on the land. The contact with nature was high. I saw squirrels, bull finch, blue tit ( merel), and one deer. You could hear Owls at night and several birds calling at evening time. The drinking water was fresh-fresh. The Host’s welcome was warm and genuine. I will visit again in the future. The Ornes Stave Church is a tranquil and interesting focal point. The pathway to the cabin passes between the Church and an ancient burial Mound. There are markers on the walk in route ; tree avenue, wood stacks, the ‘Ice Wall’ , and zig-zags into the Property Entrance. The high point is the genuine nature of the Host. There is a life-experienced, conversational richness and careful spirituality in the Host which is the lasting, special memory. You can be private in the cabin or have a contact there. You need good walking shoes for the ‘wAlk in’ , early Spring, the thaw is ongoing and little streams. The quality of wood work and detail in the cabin is highly referenced.
