The cabin is situated in the middle of the pasture at a small sheep farm, surrounded by green meadows and native forest. A big lake, Storavatnet, which is perfect for rowing and canoeing is nearby.
Perfect for friends who want to do some exploring, hiking, fishing, crafting, writing, or just be at the farm.
In the cabin, you will find a small double bed and an extra mattress. There is a compost toilet and running cold water outside. The cottage has electricity. The cottage is provided with an electric cooking stove and an electric kettle. For heating, there is an electric heater. There is also a charger for electric cars outside the cottage.
There is mostly no WIFI in the cottage, that depend a bit on the weather and the phone, but there is WIFI available outside, or up in the big barn.
It is a nice spot outside the cabin to have a bonfire. The first bag of firewood is on the farm. When you rent a cottage at Gripen, you have free access to a canoe for your whole stay. The big lake close by, about 5 minutes’ walk, is perfect for exploring or fishing. The lake is a silent lake, so no motors are allowed. ;-) Gripen is a silent spot, it has very little sound pollution, and the same with light, so it gets very dark when it is dark. So here the stars shine bright.
There is sheep pasture around the cottage, so it is important that my guests respect the sheep and do not scare them. You can feed them and cuddle them, but before you do, talk to me, so I can assure that it is safe. No running, jumping, or loud voices near the sheep, it will only scare them away. That is the same for chickens, cats, and dogs.
When you come to the house, the dogs will bark at first. They are farm dogs and want to tell me when people are entering the farm. It is two very small young dachshunds, and one Hungarian pumi, The Dachs’s are still young, and they are all very happy and enthusiastic. Despite the barking, they are very friendly dogs, and they just get so excited when somebody is coming. It is also important to keep in mind that this is the countryside, and Gripen is a working farm with pastures and animals, surrounded by nature. I just say this to make you prepared for getting shit on your shoes! For the same reason, it is totally forbidden to walk inside the cabin with shoes. Use slippers or thick socks! I say this with a smile and a blinking eye! You will of course manage everything very well!
If you need extra mattress/bedding, let me know the day before you arrive. The same for some of the more special things, such as wine glasses. Just tell me what you need, and I will provide it for you. If something is missing, or if it is anything you lack or miss, just tell me, and I will do all I can to meet your wishes. :-)
