Hyggebui – A Cosy Little Mountain Retreat for Two
Welcome to Hyggebui, our smallest and perhaps most charming cabin at Tyinstølen!
Located 1,100 metres above sea level, surrounded by open mountain landscapes and spectacular scenery, Hyggebui is a lovely little retreat for two. Here, you can slow down, enjoy the fresh mountain air and experience the peaceful atmosphere of the Norwegian highlands.
Whether you're planning outdoor adventures or simply a few quiet days together, Hyggebui is a wonderful place to unwind.
The cabin and facilities
Hyggebui is a small, cosy cabin with electricity, electric heating, a comfortable double bed, a simple kitchenette and a little seating area.
The bed is made up with fresh bed linen before your arrival, and towels are also included in the price.
Start your morning with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate from the Costa Coffee capsule machine while enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
The kitchenette has basic equipment for preparing simple meals, but there is no running water or private bathroom in the cabin.
Shared toilets, showers, drinking water and dishwashing facilities are available in the basement of the main building, approximately 70 metres away.
You have exclusive use of the entire cabin during your stay.
Explore the mountains
Tyinstølen is located by Lake Tyin, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery and views towards Jotunheimen.
During summer, you can enjoy hiking, cycling, fishing or a refreshing swim in Lake Tyin. Several trails start nearby, including the hike to Tyinstølsnosi, which offers spectacular views over the surrounding mountains and lakes.
In winter, the area is ideal for cross-country skiing, ski touring and snowshoeing. You can often start your ski trip right outside the cabin. Filefjell Ski Centre is approximately 20 minutes away by car.
After a day outdoors, you can also book our wood-fired sauna for an additional fee.
Practical information
Tyinstølen Café is normally open during Easter and the summer season (June–August). During the rest of the year, stays are self-service, but we are available by phone or message if you need assistance.
A shared washing machine is available in the main building for an additional fee.
EV charging is available on the property via an Easee Type 2 charger (up to 11 kW), paid through the Easee app.
The nearest grocery store is in Tyinkrysset, approximately 15–20 minutes away by car.
The town of Øvre Årdal is about 30–40 minutes away.
Hyggebui is a self-service cabin, and guests are responsible for basic cleaning before departure. This includes washing dishes, disposing of rubbish and cleaning the floors.
