The small cabin is beautifully located on the outskirts of Jotunheimen, surrounded by majestic mountains, where you can enjoy the silence and the beauty of nature. It is a charming, old cabin that gives you an authentic mountain experience. Here you will find no city sounds, only the sound of birds singing, streams, the wind, and in the summer perhaps some sheep.
Right behind the cabin lies a protected old stone hut from the 1600s, which was used by reindeer hunters - this was indeed the main migration route for the animals between both east/west and north/south.
The cabin consists of a simple room, as the pictures show, where the beds are together with a kitchenette and seating area. You must bring your own sleeping bag and towels for your stay. The kitchenette has simple but functional kitchen equipment. Here you will find a wood stove and a gas burner for cooking. We have pots, pans, and basic utensils so you can prepare your own meals. The living room has a rustic charm with a view of the mountains. It is a great place to enjoy meals together and share stories about the day's adventures.
We have a traditional outdoor toilet available on the property for guests' use. Please note that there is no running water in the cabin, so there is no shower. However, you can fetch fresh water from the nearby lakes, and feel free to take a dip if you wish - but it is rarely warm in the water. We also recommend that you bring your own toilet paper and other personal toiletries.
Firewood and gas are included in the price!
The cabin is an old gem with character. The walls and floor may be uneven, and when it rains, it may drip in from the roof. But this is part of the charm and authenticity of the cabin. We are continuously working to maintain it, but we also want guests to understand that they will experience some of the small challenges that come with an older cabin. It is part of the experience!
The cabin is about a one-hour walk from the parking lot, in mountainous terrain on marked trails. Steep at first and easier afterwards. In winter, you are completely dependent on skis or snowshoes!
Wear good shoes, remember a headlamp, and be aware that there is very poor to no phone coverage. Although we leave some necessities in the cabin, it may be wise to bring matches, some toilet paper, and perhaps some candles - especially if you plan to spend several days. Make it cozy for the next guest :-)
Remember to leave the cabin as you wish to find it, take your trash with you, and keep it clean.
Please remember to take care of the nature around you, and leave the cabin as you wish to find it.
We look forward to welcoming you!
Feedback from previous guests:
'Beautiful place, we spent the night in a fishing cabin, listening to the wind, admiring the beautiful mountains and lakes. Everything in accordance with the description. Thank you for a great adventure.'
'What a fantastic place and cabin, we loved it! The luxury of being alone in the mountains, having this view, washing/swimming in one of the many lakes, hiking to some of the mountain peaks around the cabin.... it was truly an unforgettable experience. The cabin itself was very nice and cozy. And very complete.'
'It is a truly amazing accommodation in a fantastic location. You will feel very connected to nature here. Don't expect phone signal or electricity, but still in our eyes it was a five-star hotel. It is a place with its own soul, that will steal your heart, if you love nature.'
