A hidden oasis on Langeland

My sister and I needed to get away from the city and just be out in nature. Two days on Langeland with campfires, bike rides and the quiet island life.

Glamping

My sister and I travelled to Tranekær on Langeland from Friday to Saturday. We had both been longing to get away from the city and just be out in nature for a couple of days.

The trip was mostly about slowing down, relaxing and spending time together: cycling across the fields, cooking over the campfire and enjoying the quiet island life.

Where we stayed

Our unique stay at Skovly - Littlest Camp

The journey down to Langeland was easy and relaxed, and as soon as we arrived we felt like we'd left the city far behind. The site is hidden like a secret oasis, almost like stepping into your own little world. What really stood out was how thoughtfully and beautifully everything was put together. The facilities are rustic, but at the same time perfectly clean, beautiful and cosy, with so much attention to detail.

There was a communal area with kitchen equipment and a fridge, two different bathroom facilities, lovely clean toilets, bikes you could borrow and plenty of space to move around. At our own glamping tent we had a cosy outdoor area with a fireplace, table and chairs and a hammock: the perfect place to settle in for the evening. What surprised us most was how much there was to do and discover without even leaving the site.

What I loved most

A magical experience

What we loved most was the cosy outdoor area right next to the glamping tent, with its own fireplace, table, chairs and a hammock. We borrowed the bikes and cycled through the fields and forest down to a completely secluded beach, which felt like our own little find.

We also spent hours by the fire cooking dinner over the flames, which turned out to be one of the best parts of the whole trip. Beyond the site itself, exploring the rest of Langeland by car added something extra special, with stops at the little roadside stalls and a visit to the charming Dageløkke Havn.

Things to do

A bit more about the island

There's lots to do, both on the site and around the island. Drive to Dageløkke Havn, a charming little spot well worth the visit. Take a trip to Tranekær Castle, just a short distance away, for some beautiful local history and nature. Stop at the little roadside stalls scattered around the island as you drive around Langeland.

Pick up a brunsviger from Stæhrs Bager: the locals say it's the best on the island, and it's absolutely worth trying.

Tips from Sofie

Three things I'd tell a friend

Bring a good book and a blanket

The hammock and outdoor area are made for slow afternoons. It's one of the best ways to fully unwind.
Borrow the bikes and explore

Take a bike ride: the journey through the forest and across the fields leads to peaceful spots you'd otherwise miss.
Plan dinner over the campfire
Plan dinner over the campfire
There's so much you can cook over the fire, and when you do it properly it becomes both fantastic food and a really cosy evening.

A fantastic stay hidden like a secret oasis on Langeland. The facilities were rustic but incredibly clean, thoughtful and cosy, and our glamping tent had a beautiful outdoor area with a fireplace and hammock. A beautiful, well-considered spot that made it easy to slow down and enjoy the simple things.
