Our handcrafted yurt offers a nature-close experience in the heart of the Sunnmøre Alps. Here you can see the starry sky through the skylight while falling asleep to the sounds of the forest. The yurt is located at our regenerative farm where we cultivate raspberries and keep sheep and llamas according to nature's principles. During the season, it is possible to buy goods from the farm. The yurt is privately situated at the edge of the forest, where you have a view over the farm, the fjord, and the mountains.
The yurt has a simple kitchen with a gas stove and running cold water. Heating is provided by a wood stove. There are two double futons: these can easily be converted between bed, lounge mode, and sofa. Just outside, you will find an outdoor toilet and outdoor shower with hot water. The room is 5 m in diameter but feels spacious. You will find a brochure in the yurt with practical information and tips about our favorite hikes in the area. Here are firewood, propane, clean bedding, soap, and towels. The yurt is built from as natural and environmentally friendly materials as practically possible and is insulated with 100% felted sheep wool. It is completely and carefully handmade by Tarjei, following a Canadian design.
There is a dog yard right next to the yurt that we have for our sled dogs when we use the yurt ourselves. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog and would like to use the dog yard. We prefer that guests do not bring pets into the yurt.
The yurt maintains a simple style in line with our life values and our larger project with the farm. If you have never lit a wood stove, used a gas stove, or done the dishes by hand, this may not be for you :)
Smoking is not allowed, either inside or near the yurt.
The farm is located halfway between Ålesund, Strandafjellet, and Geirangerfjorden. The gravel road that passes by the yurt is popular for cycling and hiking. Here is a short distance down to the fjord for a refreshing swim, and the surrounding mountains offer some of Norway's most spectacular hiking areas for outdoor life and winter sports.
Please be aware that this is an operating farm, and there may therefore be various activities in the vicinity. If you wish to see more of the farm or meet our animals, just get in touch!
