AaHuset
Tiny house · 4 guests
Welcome to AaHuset In the beautiful Gudenådal, between Silkeborg, Viborg and Randers, you will find AaHuset. A charming little yellow thatched house with an annex, idyllically located right down to the Gudenå River. "AaHuset" is from 1943 and was a weapons depot for the resistance movement during World War II. The house is now furnished with everything you need for a few days away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Here you will find the area's most beautiful natural site, completely undisturbed and yet in the middle of Bjerringbro. AaHuset includes 2 hectares of undisturbed natural site, with fruit trees, forest, meadow and stream. On the site you will find over 30 different tree species. In clear weather, we recommend that you put on a sweater and go out and look at the most beautiful night sky. The Gudenå River is, with its 160 km, Denmark's longest river. It runs from Tinnet Krat to Randers Fjord. On the river you will meet Denmark's national bird, the swan, which often glides past AaHuset with its chicks. Ducks and herons also live by the house and if you are lucky you will catch a glimpse of the kingfisher. Along the Gudenå path, on the other side of the river, cows and waders are grazing. You may also visit the website "oplevgudenaa.dk" Welcome inside From the entrance of the house you enter the living room which is furnished with a sofa bed, armchair, desk and dining table with 4 chairs. If you need to follow the news, we have installed internet and a small TV with Chromecast. In the small kitchen there is a stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, egg cooker, and all the dishes for 4 people. The house also has a large outdoor gas grill. On the 1st floor you will find two smaller rooms with exposed beams and a view of the Gudenå. With mattresses for midday naps and a lovely workplace, it is possible to completely disconnect or perhaps immerse yourself in a writing project. The house has a bathroom with toilet and shower. In the annex "Brinken" there is room for two in good beds. In AaHuset you will find binoculars, nature books, various games as well as yoga mats and exercise balls We have provided tea towels and dishcloths, bathrobes, bed linen, towels and final cleaning. You just need to pack your toothbrush and maybe a pair of slippers. In AaHuset you will find white and red wine, beer, water, whiskey, gin and rum, which are paid for according to consumption. If you arrive by train, we may offer to drive you to the house. If you are hiking or coming by canoe (you can dock right next to the house), it can be nice to have food ready in the house when you arrive. It will be possible to order tapas and breakfast according to agreement before arrival. If you dare to try your hand at the Gudenå River, you can rent our kayak and paddleboards. Here we recommend that you start the trip upstream towards the city center and sail with the current back to AaHuset. It is also possible to swim from the stairs at the house, but be careful of the current in the Gudenå River. Please bring a fishing rod. The house includes a good 100 m. of private land along the river. At the Åpromenaden in the middle of Bjerringbro there are bathing facilities and a sauna. Here you can rent canoes and mountain bikes during the summer months at “Natouren” and enjoy ice cream and a cup of coffee at “Isfuglen” On the square in Bjerringbro you will find “Niels Due Jensens Plads”, where light and water together provide a very special experience for children and adults. Bjerringbro has several specialty shops, restaurants and countless grocery stores. AaHuset was featured in the TV program “Hammerslag” Breathtaking locations, Nov. 2019 We look forward to offering accommodation in AaHuset - a treat for the soul. Kind regards, your hosts Astrid & Niels Holmriis
