Welcome to Nyrop's Room. A tribute to the renowned architect Martin Nyrop, known for his contributions to the Art Nouveau style. This room captures the essence of his vision while providing modern comforts for our guests.
The room features a practical washbasin for convenience, as well as a spacious desk where you can let your creativity flow or catch up on work.
But the highlight of Nyrop's is undoubtedly the chaise longue, inviting you to indulge in moments of quiet contemplation or relaxation. Curl up with a book or simply gaze out of the window, where you might be lucky enough to spot a herd of deer grazing in the garden during the morning hours.
With its blend of elegance and functionality, Nyrop's offers a unique and inspiring retreat for guests seeking a tranquil escape at our lodge.
At The Woodland Lodge Gisselfeld, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We embrace eco-conscious practices, from our vintage furniture to our green initiatives, ensuring that your stay is as environmentally friendly as it is enjoyable. We offer shared bathrooms on both floors.
Whether you're seeking a weekend getaway or a longer retreat, our doors are open to you year-round. Our event calendar is filled with meaningful experiences, from workshops and seminars to cultural events and wellness retreats, ensuring there's always something inspiring to engage in.
Come and discover the magic of The Woodland Lodge - an oasis of history, nature, and hospitality waiting to be explored.
We kindly note, that we have four very friendly cats living on the grounds at The Woodland Lodge. They were found abandoned behind the old stable and have since made this place their home.
You’ll likely meet them around the house, in the garden, or quietly observing life from a sunny spot. They are gentle and used to people, and part of the slow rhythm here.
They are not allowed in the guest rooms, so we kindly ask that doors are kept closed.

Woodland Stable Tub
Stable Tub is our quiet little bathing spot in the old stable. A place to slow down, warm up, and look out over the glacial valley just beyond. If you’re lucky, a small herd of deer might pass through while you’re there. The tub is for one, but there’s a small terrace with two chairs, so you can take turns and share the experience. You’ll slip into the robes from your room, and we’ll leave you with something to drink and a snack. We use natural local soap from Honningperler, chosen carefully because it’s gentle on both you and the surroundings. The water is reused in the garden, as part of how we look after the resources around us. It’s a good, old-fashioned bathtub. No fuss, no features. Just time to unwind. You can comfortably enjoy it for up to an hour all year. We recommend bringing flip-flops. Stable Tub can be booked when we are at home, so just send a message at hello@thewoodlandlodge.dk a few days in advance to check for availability.
I’m Syska, your host at The Woodland Lodge Gisselfeld. I create stays where the house, the woodlands, and the quiet become the main characters during your stay. My role is to set the scene for you to slow down, reconnect, and experience the landscape in its own rhythm. I care about thoughtful details, honest hospitality, and spaces that feel both simple and carefully considered. Sometimes that means a warm welcome and local guidance, other times it means stepping back completely so you can have the place and the silence to yourself. Everything here is shaped by nature, history, and a deep respect for slow living. My job is to make it easy for you to arrive, unwind, and feel at home in something a little less ordinary.

We arrived at pure idyll at The Woodland Lodge, where we had two overnight stays. When we arrived on a Sunday evening, when it was completely dark, Syska had arranged for fairy lights and candles on site, which made us quickly feel welcome and at home in a safe environment. The place is located in a large forest area, where you can spend many hours walking and experiencing the beautiful nature. We encountered both red deer, squirrels, eagles, and other wild animals, which only made the trip more authentic and idyllic. I can only recommend this place, and with more events and other plans in the future at The Woodland Lodge, there are good excuses to visit the place whenever the time is right.
