Birdbox Hjellaakeren is a hidden gem located 270 meters above sea level, surrounded by majestic mountains and deep fjords in beautiful Nordfjord. Situated on scenic Lotsberg, this is the place for those seeking peace, privacy, and an unforgettable view that stretches far beyond the landscape. From the panoramic windows, you can admire everything from glittering fjords to lush mountain slopes – all while enjoying the silence and proximity to nature.

Luxurious comfort in the wilderness
Hjellaakeren is designed to let the nature outside become part of the experience inside. The cabin consists of one room and is equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay. A double bed measuring 150 x 200 cm provides you with a comfortable night's sleep, while the kitchenette includes a kettle, refrigerator, and sink. The cabin is also equipped with air conditioning and a heat pump, allowing you to adjust the temperature for maximum comfort regardless of the season. Outside the cabin, you will find a composting toilet – practical and private.

Private and secluded
Birdbox Hjellaakeren is completely shielded from the outside world, with no visibility or disturbances, making it the perfect place to unwind. Here you can relax in silence, enjoy the view, and let the stresses of everyday life melt away.

A paradise for nature lovers
The area around Hjellaakeren offers countless opportunities for hikes and experiences. Explore nearby mountains and trails, or take a short drive to some of the many attractions in Nordfjord. In summer, you can experience long days with the glow of the midnight sun, while winter offers crystal-clear air and starry skies. There is also rich wildlife in the area – with a bit of luck, you might see both deer and eagles right outside the cabin.

Important information
- Shower facilities: There is no shower available in the cabin, but we have an agreement with Nordfjord Hotel. Our guests receive about half price on day passes to their spa facilities upon presentation of the booking confirmation.

What do you need to bring?
Please note that there is no running water, so it is important to bring sufficient drinking water and food for your stay. A 5-liter water can for handwashing is available in the cabin, and we provide a bottle of water and a bottle of non-alcoholic drink in the refrigerator produced by Påldtun, which you can share as a gift from us. The nearest grocery store is located in Nordfjordeid, so be prepared to bring enough food and drink for the entire stay.

- No possibility for heating food: The cabin only has a kettle, so we recommend bringing takeaway, preferably from one of the local restaurants in Nordfjordeid for an extra nice experience.

- Parking and access: The cabin is about a 15-minute drive from Nordfjordeid along the road towards Lote and further towards Lotsberg. Free parking is available on the gravel road about 100 meters from the birdbox. Note: The terrain can be somewhat steep to reach the cabin, you will need to go down stairs.

- Due to the lack of running water in the area, the use of camping stoves and other open flames is prohibited. We ask all guests to respect this rule.
