It is a triple star system located in the constellation of Taurus, near the Pleiades star cluster. Taurus is one of the oldest constellations in the sky! Its name undoubtedly draws its origin from the agrarian cults of the Neolithic.

Since August 21, 2016, the name Atlas formally designates the primary star of the system. Because a multiple star consists of three stars or a few more, gravitationally linked to each other. Atlas is located ***** light years from the sun and is moving away from it at the speed of 9 kilometers per second!
