You might remember building a treehouse as a kid, an unforgettable experience with endless fun up in the branches. Sleeping in a treehouse as an adult has only grown more popular since the trend took off around 2010, and today it is one of the most sought-after ways to stay, with beautiful treehouses built all across Scandinavia.

Fosstopp treehouses by Vassfaret. Hedalen, Norway
Fosstopp Treehouses are three modern treehouses set up to 8 metres above the forest floor in Hedalen. Here you'll find two larger cabins, each sleeping five to six guests, and a more intimate neighbouring cabin tucked away beside a beautiful waterfall.
All three cabins are fully equipped with a kitchen, a bathroom with a hot shower and comfortable beds. The shared veranda with a fire pit is where the days end, with views over Hedalen's forest landscape and a night sky free of light pollution. The area offers cycling, fishing, hiking and canoeing, with the river running just 70 metres from the cabins.
Fuglekassehytta in Lorvika. Sparbu, Trøndelag
Ever dreamed of sleeping in a birdhouse? Look no further. At Fuglekassehytta in Lorvika you can step away from everyday life and enjoy a treehouse stay built for exactly that. Find your calm by the wood stove, in the sunken bathtub, or seated at the round window with a panoramic view over the fjord.

Møllegårdens Treehouses. Dalmose, Denmark
Enjoy the beautiful surroundings at Møllegårdens Treehouses, four metres up and right in the middle of nature. The cabins sit on the edge of a small untouched patch of forest, with open views across the fields toward both sunrise and sunset in high summer. If the northern lights appear, you'll have a front-row seat. Birds of prey and deer roam the fields nearby, while squirrels, woodpeckers and countless songbirds keep things lively in the woods.
Det lille grønne hus. Kværndrup, Funen
Det lille grønne hus (The Little Green House) is a small, cosy treehouse built in a 2,000-year-old beech tree, minimalist in style but genuinely practical and functional.
It sleeps two adults and two children and makes a lovely base for a family holiday. Play a game on the terrace or take a walk in the woods, there's even a tandem bike to borrow. There's a warm hot tub right under the tree. All meals are included, with breakfast charmingly delivered by a small pulley that hoists the food up to the cabin, and an authentic Vietnamese menu served for dinner.
Funky Forest. Langå, Central Jutland
At Funky Forest you get forest and lake in all their charm. The cabin sits at the end of a quiet lane on the edge of a small, scenic village in central Jutland, with a shop and public transport within easy reach. The forest itself has great walking trails and options for swimming and fishing.
The cabin is available year-round, sleep among snow-covered branches in winter, watch the autumn colours up close, or enjoy fresh spring growth. Another cabin sits 20 metres away with a terrace wrapped around a birch trunk. It sleeps two, and the treehouse itself has four more beds.

Trakt Forest Hotel. Holsbybrunn, Sweden
At Trakt Forest Hotel you step into a suite with an open view onto untouched forest. Sleep under the stars, always in step with nature, since the suites are designed to keep nature at the centre of the experience.
The forest suites have a toilet and shower, and dinner is served in the log house at 6pm, a three-course menu made from local ingredients.
After a great three-course dinner, retreat and enjoy some time in the wilderness hot tub. Note that both dinner and the hot tub are booked as add-ons.
Supermåne, a spectacular stay under the stars
Supermåne (Supermoon) is a genuinely unique cabin that guarantees a spectacular stay. It hangs gently among the trees in the Swedish wilderness, a stunning sight and an unforgettable experience in one.
The cabin is small and cosy, sleeping two adults and one child. From inside, you get a full view of all the forest's secrets, watch a beautiful starry sky and, if you're lucky, spot an elk.
INCREDIBLE TreeHouse. Östavall, Sweden
The Haven Islands are two private islands set in a lake region deep in inland Sweden, surrounded by forest and wildlife. Here you'll find The Bear, an architect-designed treehouse suspended among the trees, designed by a French architecture firm and built from wood and glass to live in perfect harmony with nature and light.
The cabin offers panoramic views over the lake in every direction. The site is self-sufficient on solar power and comes with kayaks, SUP boards, a rowing boat, fishing rods and more, all included in the stay. No neighbours, no traffic noise. Just water, forest and silence.
