Sometimes you just need to get away for a bit, and that's exactly what we did when we went on a getaway to Det Grønne Orangeri in Nibe. I brought my partner and our dog, Charlie, along, and our only goal was to relax, be together, enjoy nature and cook good food.
We were specifically looking for a place where it made sense to bring the dog, and here it was absolutely perfect. There's a big, lovely garden where Charlie could run around freely and sniff himself tired. Everything was tucked away in nature and calm, and it was truly a hidden gem.
We had booked two nights at Det Grønne Orangeri, and it was absolutely perfect. Just enough time to slow down and really feel like we were off duty. From the moment we arrived, we were met with a sense of genuine cosiness, great facilities and all the lovely little details.
The garden was a highlight in itself, green, inviting and with room for both relaxation and a fire. It was also here that we enjoyed the delicious breakfast the host had prepared and delivered to us. It was truly something special: homemade bread, smoothie, yoghurt and other little treats.
The orangery itself was compact, well-appointed and super charming, all in one room in true "small living" style, but without lacking anything. Karen and her partner were fantastic hosts.
It was the combination of the large dog-friendly garden and the delicious, homemade breakfast that made the stay something truly special.
Being able to cook over the fire both outdoors and on the indoor wood stove made the place cosy regardless of the weather.
Explore the open plains, and walk or drive the three minutes to the nearby lake for a lovely evening stroll. Use the fire pit in the garden to cook dinner, it's both cosy and simply tastes better. Do yourselves a favour and add on the breakfast, it's without a doubt a highlight.
