I went to the treehouses in Lårdal together with my sister and her boyfriend to celebrate her birthday in the best way she could imagine, with beautiful nature, stillness and skiing. When we looked up Lårdal on the map, it looked like a winter paradise, and we were looking forward to getting away from the city for a weekend filled with peace and nature experiences. The treehouse made the trip extra special, as we got to stay in a unique cabin, surrounded by snow-covered trees and a magical winter landscape.
We had a fantastic weekend, and the birthday girl was thrilled with her celebration. Her wish was to get away from Oslo and celebrate in nature, and that's exactly what we got. The cabin was sheltered from the outside world, and we felt an incredible sense of calm and privacy from the moment we arrived.
The first thing we noticed was the very special silence, here we could completely switch off and simply enjoy the surroundings. The cabin was cosy and warm, and the view we woke up to was utterly indescribable. Drinking our morning coffee in bed while watching the sun rise between the treetops was one of the weekend's clear highlights.
We loved the location, the cabin and the amazing nature around it. The evenings were spent in front of the fireplace inside, and after dark we gathered outside by the fire pit to enjoy the warmth while gazing up at a starry sky.
Large windows give a sense of being at one with nature, both morning and evening. An outdoor fire pit was perfect for grilling sausages or just enjoying the warmth under a starry sky.
A cosy fireplace provided a warm, snug atmosphere after a day out in the snow, and the cabin is located right by the ski trails, with great skiing in the area and up-to-date trail conditions via the Skisporet app.
Explore the ski trails in Høydalsmo, it was one of the weekend's highlights, especially in lovely winter weather. Use the Skisporet app to find recently groomed trails.
After a day out in the snow, it's worth booking a private sauna at Lårdal Brygge, where two hours of full relaxation costs just 400 kroner.
The evenings are best spent by the fire pit with sausages or marshmallows under a starry sky, or with a calm morning in bed enjoying the sunrise through the large windows.
The treehouse is sheltered from everything else, offering a sense of calm and privacy that's hard to find elsewhere.
If you want to make the sauna experience even more special, you can also visit the famous floating sauna Soria Moria, but remember to book well in advance.
