I went on an amazing road trip through Norway with my boyfriend and our dog. We wanted to do something different this summer than just heading south again, so we chose Norway and a completely different kind of holiday.
Our calm stop in Bolkesjø
We loved our stay in Bolkesjø. It was the perfect way to start the holiday, calm and relaxed, so all of us, the dog included, could slow down and recharge before many days of exploring and hiking.
The peaceful surroundings, the cozy atmosphere, the lake just across the road, the quiet and the beautiful nature made it the perfect place to settle into our adventure!!!
What we loved most
The cabin was absolutely amazing, and we loved having the water so close, especially in the good weather. And our host Anne was the best, she gave us so many great recommendations!

Heddal Stave Church was beautiful, and it was only 20 to 25 minutes away, close to Notodden, which was a nice slightly bigger town to visit.
We also did a shorter hike to see the beautiful Dušanfossen waterfall. It was a hidden gem, and we loved that it wasn't crowded, we only met one other family on the whole hike.
The cabin is right by Bolkesjø Lake, where you can swim, relax and sunbathe when the weather is good. There was also the option to have a barbecue at the accommodation, which was the perfect way to enjoy the evenings, surrounded by nature.
