My friends and I needed a trip where we could completely unwind and feel far away from everyday life. We chose Unique Floating Suite, a floating cabin off the large Norwegian island of Hitra, surrounded by an adventurous archipelago. We dreamed of experiencing nature, silence and the feeling of being completely alone in the middle of nature, and we got exactly that.
Our trip began with a beautiful drive from Trondheim to Kvenvær, where we were captivated by the Norwegian scenery and an incredible red sunset just before arrival. In Kvenvær, our host Bjarne waited with a warm smile and welcomed us wholeheartedly. To our great surprise, we would be sailing out to the cabin, and along the way Bjarne stopped to show us sea eagles, telling us that if you sailed west from here, the next stretch of land would be America.
Suddenly the cabin appeared among the small islands, and we fell in love instantly. The cabin was perfectly positioned in the water, and as we arrived, cosy fairy lights glowed inside while the sky above us turned pink. Bjarne dropped us off, and suddenly we were alone in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the calm of nature and the sound of water against the rocks.
Inside, the cabin was cosy, modern and well-equipped. We enjoyed cooking in the lovely kitchen, swimming from the terrace, warming up in the sauna and using the small motorboat that came with the cabin to sail ashore the next day.
The boat ride out to the cabin with ocean views over the Atlantic and the sight of sea eagles along the way set the tone for the entire stay.
Being completely alone in the middle of the archipelago, with the sauna, terrace and a small motorboat at our disposal, made it an unforgettable girls' trip.
There's plenty to do, even in the middle of nowhere. Sail out and keep an eye out for sea eagles along the way, take a dip or swim from the terrace, warm up in the sauna, and use the included motorboat to explore the archipelago or sail ashore.
