Glass cabin

In spring, my partner and I, along with our beloved dog Mocha, went on a special babymoon trip to Norway. Our destination was Dalen, just 1.5 hours from the Larvik ferry, where we stayed at Fenja, a beautiful glass cabin at Vidsyn Midjås.

From the moment we arrived, the magnificent views over the mountains and the town exceeded all our expectations.

Where we stayed

Where We Stayed

We spent two peaceful days at Fenja, enjoying the silence and exploring the local treasures. The glass cabin offered a perfect combination of modern comfort and natural beauty, and the surrounding landscape offered endless opportunities for adventure. One of the most memorable moments was the visit to Soria Moria, an iconic floating sauna, as well as the hike along Lårdalstigen and the dramatic Ravneklofta gorge. The area's folklore enriched our experience, with stories of trolls, huldra and other mystical beings that brought the landscape to life.

After a day full of experiences, we returned to our cabin, lit the fire on the terrace and relaxed with a drink while watching the sunset over the mountains. The combination of fresh air, birdsong and the warmth of the fire created unforgettable evenings.

The Highlights of the Stay

It was the glass cabin's floor-to-ceiling windows and the total peace and quiet, combined with the private terrace and fire pit, that made the stay.

The proximity to hiking trails and sights like Ravneklofta gorge and Lårdalstigen, along with Norwegian folklore about trolls and huldra, gave the whole trip a magical atmosphere.

Things to Do Around Dalen

There's plenty to do. Have a picnic by Ravneklofta gorge with spectacular views over the valley, try the unique sauna experience at Soria Moria followed by a dip in the lake, and hike along Lårdalstigen for some of the area's best views. In the evening, you can light a fire and enjoy cocktails on the terrace, and if you're lucky, you can watch the sunrise from bed.

How to Plan This Adventure

Best time to visit
Best time to visit
You can visit Vidsyn Midjås year-round, but I recommend spring or autumn, when it's quieter and you can have the trails and viewpoints to yourself.
Take the early ferry
Take the early ferry
If you're travelling from Denmark, take the early ferry to get as much time as possible in Dalen. At least two nights is ideal to really enjoy the surroundings.
End your trip here

If you're planning a multi-destination trip, I recommend finishing at Vidsyn Midjås, the perfect way to end the journey on a high point.
