Cozy cabin with a great view over Hodnekilen by the Otra River. The cabin is about 6 meters from the water and has a sunny location with a terrace and garden furniture. Shallow swimming area right in front of the cabin.
The cabin is suitable for a family of 4-6 people. It is approximately 50 m2 and contains 1 bedroom with a family bunk bed and a small sofa bed, and 1 bedroom with a double bed, totaling 4-6 sleeping places. The kitchen is equipped with most of what you need for self-catering. The stove and small refrigerator work with gas. A wood stove is used for heating and is located in the living room. The sofa in the living room can easily be converted into an extra double bed. The cabin does not have regular electricity, but the solar panel system provides power for lights, and you can also charge your mobile phone or tablet. Charging works with a regular phone charging cable; please bring your own USB cable. The TV in the cabin works with 12 volts. It has a Canal Digital family package. Biological compost toilet outside.
The cabin also has a rowboat available in the summer. The boat is used at your own risk; please bring your own safety equipment to ensure the right size. The wood-fired hot tub and bathing tub by the cabin work with wood. The bathing tub is closed in winter, but the hot tub can be used all year round. The cabin does not have running water/shower, but the sauna has a water tank that must be filled with water from the river, and when the sauna stove is heated, the water in the tank warms up, making it easy to wash by mixing cold and hot water in the sauna and pouring it over yourself. The utility water is taken from the river (Hodnekilen). Drinking water must be brought. The sauna is truly relaxing. Highly recommended!
The bathing tub costs extra: You must fill it with water using a water pump from the river and heat the stove in the tub yourself. It takes about 1 hour to fill the tub and 5-6 hours to get it warm, and about 5-6 bags of wood. The cost for heating the tub is 550 NOK in summer, 800 NOK in spring/autumn. The price includes 5 bags of wood in summer/6 bags in autumn. Note: The tub is closed during the winter period from October 15 to April 30. If you want to buy more wood, 1 bag costs 110 NOK/60 l bag. Payment is made to the host. It is not possible to bring your own wood due to transportation difficulties. We do not want wood on the rowboat, and often many bring wet wood. All wood must be purchased from the cabin.
If you want us to fill the tub in advance and start the fire, it costs an extra 1200 NOK.
The cabin is rented out to orderly people who are used to such nature/forest cabins. Families and 1-2 quiet adult couples. NOT teenagers and not groups.
The owner has 2 cabins in the same area, about 100 m apart. A separate hot tub has been built at both cabins. The sandy beach and docks are shared between the cabins. Guests from the other cabin are allowed to go to the dock and swim at the beach.
To get to the cabin, you can choose to row across Hodnekilen (it takes about 4 minutes to row over) or walk via the forest path about ***** m. In winter, you must walk. About 8 km to Evje, where you will find shops, restaurants, etc. Mineral park, go-karting, rafting, climbing forest are some activities we would like to mention. Take a trip to Kilefjord camping about 1.5 km from the cabin, where fishing licenses, fishing gear, ice, and fast food are sold.

- There may be some traffic noise from the road on the other side of the water. If you can overlook that, it is a nice place to be otherwise.
- The sandy beach and docks are used by both cabins.

Otherwise, it is about 250 m to walk to the cabin.
- No dogs/cats due to allergies.
- Water levels in the river vary.
Behave properly and respect others' property.
- Do not damage anything. No smoking inside the cabin.
- Bring your own bed linen, towels, toilet paper, candles. Wood is in the cabin.
- Bring drinking water.
- Clean the cabin well after use.
- The bathing tub is closed during the winter period from October 1 to April 30, but the sauna can be used all year round.
- The cabin is rented out only to orderly families who are used to such nature/forest cabins. Only families and 1-2 quiet adult couples over 23 years old. NO TEENS / groups / parties.
- 1 bag of wood is included in the price. Otherwise, wood costs 110 NOK/bag.
During the period from June 25 to August 8, it is only possible to book for a minimum of 1 week.
